About Cask Marque

Since 1997 Cask Marque has been ensuring that the cask ale you drink in pubs in the UK has been in perfect condition. Our 45 qualified assessors make over 20,000 visits to pubs each year in England, Scotland, Wales, Europe and even America to check the temperature, appearance, aroma and taste of Britain’s favourite drink.

When you visit a Cask Marque accredited pub and you are guaranteed to receive a great pint of cask ale.

A brief history . . .

the hogg familyThe George Hogg re-opened it’s doors in 2010 after being closed for four years.

Formally known locally as The George, it was given a new name by new owners Dave and Jax Hogg, who have lovingly restored it to the gem it is now!

The pub boasts open fires in the cold winter months, a beer garden for the warmer times, a large lounge, smaller bar and smaller restaurant room upstairs for those more intimate dinners.

We are proud we do not have TV’s in our bars, we offer free Wi-Fi, and have a traditional dart board and encourage cards and any other sociable pub games! Here at the George Hogg we believe in the good old fashioned pub atmosphere, where everyone can drink fine Ale or tea or coffee, eat freshly made great food and TALK to each other!
